GC109 Rhys Jones, Potterston farm, Dalrymple, Ayr, East Ayrshire

The farm is 202ha owned. Rhys and his family run a herd of around 50 spring calving suckler cows alongside a 700 ewe flock of New Zealand Romney sheep.

Very much a work in progress, the farm is building livestock numbers and developing a system and breedtypes to suit the land and labour available.

Focussed on reducing costs and maintaining output, managing grazed grass efficiently is a key objective set by Rhys with an aim also to improve soil health and structure.
